I’ve come to realize I thrive when there is a plan, a schedule to follow that lets me know who needs to be where and when. It helps me manage my own expectations and the expectations of those around me, because I despise feeling disappointed but what I hate even more is knowing I’ve disappointed those around me.
But the reality is not everything is within my control. Even my best laid plans can get derailed by anything from weather to car troubles to sick children.
The last several years, which included a pandemic, major changes in my own health, and the health of my family, have taught me that planning is good, but planning and trusting God with the outcome is even better.
The Bible tells us repeatedly that God is sovereign. Stated another way, God has control over all things in heaven and here on earth. Nothing brings me more peace than knowing God has dominion over every detail of my life. Nothing happens by chance. No outside force can access my life without the permission and knowledge of God.
Many of us are facing uncertain circumstances and navigating big changes that will influence various parts of our life. Take heart! God will see you through the unknown because even the unknown is known by Him.
